Corporate Intelligence & OSINT Research

The Work

Conducted a full open-source intelligence profile on a Malaysian SME operating at the intersection of manufacturing technology and cultural product design. The research synthesized findings from corporate registries, bilingual media archives, academic publications, e-commerce platforms, and social media across 15+ data sources.

The final output was a structured markdown report with verified findings, confidence-graded assessments, and clearly documented information gaps, including recommendations for further investigation through paid registry channels.

Research Methodology

The work demonstrated multi-layered OSINT methodology across both English and Malay language sources. Data sources included corporate registries (SSM), academic databases (BIOSTEC/BIODEVICES proceedings), social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), e-commerce marketplaces (Shopee, Lazada), business directories (Dun & Bradstreet, Hotfrog, PEKA), news archives (Bernama, mStar, road.cc), book review platforms (Goodreads), and domain/website analysis.

Key Analytical Challenges

Brand Disambiguation. A critical challenge was disambiguating three separate legal entities operating under nearly identical brand names within Malaysia, plus a fourth in Singapore. The research mapped corporate registration numbers, cross-referenced contact details across business listings, and identified potential points of confusion that could affect due diligence or legal processes.

Negative-Result Analysis. The profile involved documenting and interpreting the near-total absence of a digital footprint for one individual, rather than treating missing data as a dead end. The report offered plausible explanations grounded in cultural and business context (private-channel communication norms among Malaysian SME operators) while clearly flagging this as an unresolved gap requiring paid registry access to close.

What This Demonstrates

Analytical rigor without surveillance. Cross-cultural information literacy across bilingual sources. The ability to synthesize fragmented data into a coherent narrative with honest epistemic boundaries. The fact that the report openly acknowledges what it couldn't verify is as important as what it did uncover.

Research craftsmanship means knowing where the edges of your evidence are, and marking them clearly rather than papering over gaps with confident-sounding language.
